We are looking for a Medical Advisor to join the medical team of a business with one of the broadest pipelines of any pharma company. Mission:

The Medical Advisor will be the company’s scientific ambassador providing medical and scientific input to allocated medical activities. The role will be reporting into the Benelux Medical team Lead, directly liaise and be aligned with the cross-functional team members.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Implement the company’s vision for on-market drug performance, Medical Education and Training.
  • Provide medical / scientific advice for assigned products to ensure that the objectives of each product range are realized, product licenses are maintained and to support the company’s image in the marketplace whilst legal, regulatory and ethical standards are maintained.
  • Advice into / at strategic, operating & tactical plans, brand team activities, customer relations pricing & reimbursement, key meetings of commercial relevance in Belgium.
  • Provide relevant training of Medical Reps /Clinical Research colleagues for assigned therapeutic domain.
  • Collaborate to provide scientific input for and support to the management of Investigator Sponsored Research grants (ISR’s) and Grants for assigned products.
  • Actively network with customers within Pfizer Belgium and the global Pfizer teams for assigned products. Support networking of ongoing relationships with external key influencers (academics, pharmacologists and CTG experts).
  • Provide scientifically valuable answers and information for assigned products to internal and external customers by ad hoc research, quality checkoff information, development of FAQ lists, contact with external KOL for relevance as needed.
  • Ensure compliance of adverse event reporting for the assigned products in line with the company’s Safety obligations.
  • Review medical correctness and compliance with local labelling for assigned products. Sign-off all marketing materials for assigned products for medical correctness in accordance with existing internal and external regulations.
  • Ensure that appropriate medical recommendations are made or actions taken to ensure that the company complies with the requirements of regulatory and clinical legislation.
  • Keep track with the evolution of legislation, medical and scientific knowledge by following up general and expert literature.
  • Set-up a medical plan including customer relations, in order to support the assigned brand from a medical perspective.
  • Organization and participation to Advisory Boards.
  • Support expanded access programs (e.g. compassionate use programs).

 

Requirements/ Skills:

  • Scientist (MD /PhD/ PharmD) with proven track record in your field.
  • Trilingual: Fluency in English, Dutch and French is a must.
  • Experience in inflammation & immunology, particularly inflammatory bowel disease is highly desirable (except when you are an MD)
  • Your background and personality allow you to engage in meaningful peer-to-peer interactions with stakeholders
  • A commitment to working in the best interest of patients and within all relevant compliance and regulatory frameworks
  • Project management experience with examples of delivering high quality work
  • Good understanding of Belgian health care environment
  • Good knowledge of clinical trials, an understanding of health economics and its impact on medical decision making
  • Knowledge of pharmaceutical Industry, including knowledge of regulations for approval and reimbursement of drugs.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Pro-active mindset, self-starter with business acumen. Ability to create new concepts and innovative solutions.
