We are looking for a Business Unit Manager Vaccines & Infectious Diseases. Experience in pharmaceutical Sales and Marketing, with at least some years in the vaccines market is required. A highly developed strategic mindset, strong leadership skills and the ability to assimilate complex science and data quickly are also needed to fulfil this role successfully. Tasks and responsibilities:

  • Primarily responsible for the Sales and Marketing functions and for coordinating all cross-functional (pre-)launch activities in the business unit.
  • Responsible for the successful commercial implementation of a competitive portfolio value plan by developing go-to-market and channel strategy. Vaccines requires portfolio management (rather than one brand).
  • Outlines and leads the customer strategy, customer value added initiatives and stakeholder engagement plans.
  • Expected to contribute to the identification of unmet customer needs and future evolution of products and services around-the-pill.
  • Accountable for successful commercial execution excellence of the brand value plans by translating national strategy into regional Customer Focus plans.
  • Leading the Sales Organization to ensure the perfect alignment between Strategy and Execution supported by a Bottom-Up /Top Down approach.
  • Responsible for the P&L of the brands within the BU and monitors the performance, identifies critical opportunities and risks within the brand plan and evaluates investments for Life Cycle opportunities.
  • Lead the development of new vaccines capabilities. Close partnership with other departments, not only for the product launch readiness, but also co-create EMEA Vaccines operating model.
  • Develop and implement integrated cross-functional plan for wider stakeholder groups, such as immunisation KOLs, government stakeholders, public health stakeholders, public/end consumers, etc.
  • Selects, develops, trains and retains quality people


Profile / qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in business or life sciences
  • Additional Post-graduate degree(s) in relevant discipline is an advantage
  • Fluent in Dutch and English. Fluency in French is an advantage.
  • Minimum of 6 years of work experience in pharmaceutical Sales and Marketing, of which at least 4 years’ experience in vaccines markets is required (proven track record of success).
  • Strong pharmaceutical background and has demonstrated a strategic mindset, decision making ability and the ability to assimilate complex science and data quickly
  • Strong ability to coach, motivate and inspire First Line Sales Managers and Brand Managers
  • In line marketing, commercial or medical experience with brand responsibility is required. Local marketing and launch experience preferred
  • Experience as a Brand Team member in delivering and executing brand value strategies at local level is required.
  • Demonstrate ability to develop insight and analysis, providing scientific and commercial intelligence and foresight is required
  • Strong leadership skills, communicative skills and ability to build high performing teams in a cross-functional setting
  • Adaptability, self-organizing and developing in new role
  • Working understanding on the national health care system, structure, market dynamics and customer decision processes 
  • Ability to assess, consolidate & communicate product related and market relevant information to internal and external stakeholders
  • Strong understanding of the entire product life cycle stages
  • Prior experience in working with external agencies and vendors
  • Proven track of trade off decision making based on analytical thought and risk management
  • Proven ability to lead and work with cross-functional teams, connecting people & functions
  • Reside in Belgium or The Netherlands
